Well. The long hair, just take very good care of it. I've heard to wash your hair in *cold* water and dont touch it (blowdry, brush etc) until it's completely dry because it might encourage breakage. I dont know if it's true or not, but it's worth a try. Also, protein in the diet helps hair grow faster and thicker.
For the big curls? I'm not sure about the type of curl, but you might just need plain ol' curlers. The ones you'd heat up and put into your hair at night. The bigger the curler, the bigger the wave, and viceversa.

Let your hair grow, use a deep conditioner once a week, and buy a big curl curling iron. If you have short hair get extensions.

use heated rollers the reali big ones! and use loads of hair spray!
