I dont think i am ghostly white, but still am very white. Ive tried tanning in the sun, and it doesn't work that well, i might get a little color, or i burn. Do you know if tanning beds will work?

There are sunless tanning lotions that work fairly well, but they are usually a bit orange.

There is, however, a new product in stage III developement called "melanotan." A company in Australia called Epitan is making it under the name CUV1647. The product that is to be injected subcutaneously in a time-release capsule, actually causes skin to have melanin.

I'm not an expert on all the mechanisms at work here, but I have actually tried it personally. The research chemicals can be found if you do your homework. It DOES work. I'm not an albino, but I'm pretty light skinned and don't really tan at all. After taking 30 mgs of this stuff (injecting it) I was able to get a pretty nice tan.

I expect this product will be on the market in 1-2 years. I'm not sure if it will work for an albino, but it might.

If you are technically "albino" then you will not tan.. Albino means you have no melanin or pigment in your skin... Without that you arent going to get any results in skin tone other than a burn! I wouldnt recommend tanning if you are extremely fair skinned... You are uping your chances of skin damage and or skin cancer (Im fair skinned), If you insist on tanning call around your local tanning salons and ask them if they have tanning beds with lower watts or a simple starter bed for someone who is fair skinned and prone to burning! If you are looking for a lotion Coco Beach has a nice accelerator... Be warned you will burn (everytime you burn you are putting your skin and cells through hell)! Other than that you can get a mystic tan at most local salons or use a over the counter sunless tanner (Which i think looks tacky and orange but this is personal opinion)! Most of all I think you should love who you are and how you look instead of trying to fit society's image of what is "attractive" I think fair skinned is beautiful and hopefully it will have a comeback one day!

Try using a self-tanner. Companies like Neutrogena make gradual self-tanning lotion so that you can build your tan to the color you want. Don't try tanning beds; they'd hurt your delicate skin structure.

If you are albino then you dont have the ability to tan and you can actually get skin cancer if you are in the sun too much or under tanning beds.

tanning beds will burn you too. go to the store and buy a lotion with self tanner in it. jergens makes one, its a gradual tanner, that you can control and rarely turn you orange and just give you a hint of color so you dont look so white, and you can keep adding to get your desired color

Tanning is very bad for your skin, especially if you have very light skin. I'd suggest a spray on tan. They offer them now pretty much wherever there are tanning beds. It's a healthy alternative.

If you are a true albino, it is impossible for you to tan due to lack of pigment in your skin. Stay out fo the sun, you will do serious damage.

I think it depends on the type of albino you are. There are different types and each tans differently. And as the person above me stated, with some variations you cannot tan at all!

This may help:

Scroll down to "Types of Human albinism" and it will list the types and how each may tan.
