Various mechanisms exist to control body temperature. Metabolic activity actually generates heat, and any form of exercise will increase the amount of heat being produced. Shivering is a bodily reflex which generates heat in response to a drop in core body temperature.

Cooling the body off is another issue. In humans, cooling is mostly achieved by sweating. Some animals pant to cool themselves off, and some have built-in radiators where the blood easily loses heat to the surrounding air.
