I think you can only develop into something if you developed from it. India and the U.S have a totally different heritage. I personally wouldn't use the U.S as role model for anything, especially India, that has it's own very rich heritage and culture.

India is fast becoming one of the countries for the future and inevitably the U.S will become one of the countries of the past. The balance is shifting rapidly. I only hope it's for the good of mankind. 30 years from now, India along with China will probably be the richest economies in the world.

England...where I come from......well, I don't know where we'll be.
Probably part of a bigger Europe.

Dumbled......It'll take 30 years because the money and developement will have to filter down through the whole population. The richest country isn't just the one with the most money, it's the one where the people themselves are also the richest. If India has problems, it's firstly the size of the population and the size of the country, also it's many regions and local government in those regions. India isn't a poor country, yet it has many poverty strickened people.....it takes time.

Take out corruption from day to day life. Can you do that? No. The big cities have benefited a lot from outsourcing and BPO's. But what about rural sector. Even today more than half our population live below poverty line. The average earning of rural labour is just a $1. Due to craze on outsourcing and IT industry our governments totally ignored agricultural sector which is our back bone. Result instead of exporting food grains we are now importing food grains. Shame on us. This fact is admitted by none else our Union Minister Mr Sharad Pawar. The day every Indian eats a good sumptuous dinner before going to bed then India can think of becoming an advance country like USA.

Do you know one Thing India has been rapidly developing. The only reason that India is not yet has become a advanced country is due to the corruption inside its domestic territory. The countries like USA had taken more than 100yrs after independence for their development. But India has taken only about 57yrs and it is developing at a faster rate.do you know one more thing, a few years back, INDIA started a nuclear project.Due to that project, we were to be an advanced country. but due to the indirect opposition of the other countries,we were forced to drop that project.we are in the 5th place in the iron&steel production. This indicates that we shall become a advanced country in a few years

India is very advance and unique heritage place in this world.
India has 5000+ years old history of science, medical, Math, physics and chemistry and spiritual practises.. go thru Veda, Puran's and Upnishads and you will come to know.

For a moment forget about bad visible face you see currently and start realizing the power of India and Indian people.

Answer to ur question :-

first, institute free, compulsory public education for boys AND girls.

second, balance betw religion and state is skewed. Freedom of conscience (speech and ability to practice ANY religion one chooses) must become paramount. 1billion+ Indians MUST be permitted to choose and exercise the religion of their individual preference. The inability to do so leads to persecution and violence, and no great country has this. They may have had them in their pasts, but do not currently have them.

thirdly, freedom of speech. It is in the complete, unfettered exchange of ideas that the best ideas come to the fore, and improve a country. The countries that do not have freedom in the market place of ideas do not become advanced. Scientific, philosophic, and political/economic progress only comes when the government butts out, and allows the free-thinkers to do what they do best.

Others have noted the corruption (I read an article a few months ago in the SUNDAY NY TIMES MAGAZINE that told how new parents in India have to BRIBE nurses in a neo-natal unit with additional money in order to be allowed to see and hold their babies.) In a country of laws, this kind of CRAP doesn't happen.

A tall order to make any of these things happen; I wouldn't hold my breath, but societies can change, and maybe rampant capitalism can catalyze these changes.

To put India at a level of USA only 3 problems are required to solved.
1] population to be brought to sustainable limit.
, which is 50 million. This will take at least 20 years if we start
now.
2] Education be funded by Govt to at least School level &
managed by panel of Educationalists (not by Govt sahebs or
politicians) without Reservation policies.
3] Curruption (whether by politicians or bearocrats)to be dealt
with iron fist without any mercy.

why compare India with USA
can India at least be like china or singapore.....

India is so backward and outdated, with so many religion and language problem in line, India is only compared to Indonesia, smart Indians will rather sell their brains to outside nation, well these are facts , you have to accept them.....

Seems like the Christians are taking over India ,sooner or later India will be known as a Christian nation, tats what a Pastor mentioned, coz India might have the oldest religion or language but, it is very easy for Indians to get them convert.
