I have drank mountain dew (2 Liters a day) for 13 years. I now have high blood pressure and have gained a considerable amount of weight. I recently- 11 days to be exact- quit drinking mountain dew. Diet dew does not work- nothing compares to the real thing. Just quit cold turkey- you'll feel lousy the first few days (3-4), but it will pass and its worth it. I just switched to water. I figured if I wasnt going to drink what I wanted I'd drink what I should. Good luck. Believe me, if I could do it. Anyone can!

Miss Red's right, you have to be patient.
Like any habbit, it takes a while to let go. Your body is going through some changes with less caffeine.
You could cut down the caffeine gradually by drinking Mountain dew less often, or by drinking instead other healthier drinks (still with a little sugar, just less).
The caffeine is probably what made you gain weight, too. That's what sugar does when it's not used- it turns into fat.
Just keep at it and don't give in. Your body will get over it soon. I'm guessing maximum in a couple of weeks.

Basically, Miss Red is correct. The Pepsi website says there are only 36 milligrams of caffeine in a can of Mountain Dew, other sites say 55 mg. There are 110 Calories per can. Cut down on the caffeine gradually. Try switching to a diet drink without caffeine. Be skeptical about quick weight loss fads. Will power and exercise are key.

It's been said already but you're getting caffeine headaches. Try switching to Diet Moutain Dew so you don't get the calories of regular Dew and then try limiting yourself. Reduce the amount of soda you drink daily and that will help too. Trade out maybe a can per week for a bottle of water or some kind of juice. It'll be better for you.

Yup. Caffeine withdrawal.
You can cut down slowly, minus one or 2 cans a day until you are off of it.
Better yet, substitute diet mountain dew. Then there's no calorie worries. You can still wean yourself off slowly if you want to get off the caffeine. Or sub a diet caffeine free can for a diet can every day or so.
Third option. Add up all the caffeine you get from mountaindew in a day. Each can is supposed to have 55g of caffeine in it, or 37g per 8oz (per the website). If you want to get off of mountain dew cold turkey, just substitute something else with this much or slightly less caffeine. Just make sure you are going to drink something without calories (like a cup of tea with no or a low calorie sweetener) or you will be in the same situation.
Good luck!

No sodas are good for you. Mountain Dew is one of the worst because it has the most sugar, caffeine and empty calories. If you drink too much Mountain Dew (or any soda) it will make fat and getting fat can give you diabetes. I would say it is ok to have this as a treat maybe once a week or so.

Do they have Diet Mountain Dew? You are having withdrawals from the caffeine. Maybe you could try another diet soda with the caffeine, or else suffer thought the withdrawals for the next few days.

Mountain Dew I believe has a lot of caffeine in it. You are getting withdrawl headaches. Just drink lots of water to clean out your system and just be patient. They will pass!

I get headaches when I withdraw from coffee. You could try Diet Mountain Dew or cut down your daily intake.
