Click start, choose run. Type in CMD, click ok.

At the blinking cursor, type in

dir/w

and hit enter.

The first line after you hit enter will have the volume label.

If you simply double-click on My Computer, you'll get a display of your drives. To the left of the icon you'll see the label (that's just the name that the hard drive is called).

If it says 'Local disk' then the drive hasn't been labelled with any name.

If you wish to name the drive (give it a volume label) you right click on the icon. This will open a dialog box with a blank space where you can type in a name. For instance, my D drive is called MIXXX 40GB. (I bet you can't guess what size that drive is, can you? lol.)
