My mother used to embarrass me by insisting on starting and carrying on a conversation with every single stranger she met, such as waiters/waitresses, the check-out person at the grocery store and Wal-Mart, taxi drivers, mothers with babies in stores, etc. and now I realize that I have become JUST like her!

LOL don't feel so bad, me too!!!! I'm so turning into my dad. And a bit of my mom too. I think it just happens, no matter how much we try not too, as we age our minds and thoughts change and we just start to do some things that our parents did. They don't seem quite as ridiculous to me now that I do them, but I sure hated being around my folks when they would talk to strangers or so or do silly stuff in public. But that's me!

If it was something that bother you when you did it, then try not to do it because your making your daughter feel the same way. My sister is just acting the same way as my mom and I wish I could let her know that she is but she will turn very upset at me.
You can still change because you still are able to recognize this reactions, so when you do, stop for a second, think and change it by apologizing for that reaction. Try to make it a habit and soon you will be able to remove those bad habits that your mom used to have on you.
Good luck!

Hard as we may try not to; and regardless of how many promises we made to ourselves [e.g, "I'll NEVER do, say, etc etc] we all end up repeating some of the same phrases, behaving in the same manner in some situations and even walking, talking and looking more like our parents as we get older.

One of the ironies of life :-)

One reason is that as we mature, we realize that their 'ways' weren't so bad and since we, ourselves, begin as novices to life, we do as we saw and heard figuring it was a pretty nice way to be after all.

Oh yes! The older I get the more like my mom I become. But you know what, that's ok because my mom's awesome!

It is funny how it just sort of happens to you though.
