As others have said we are not to judge, I have heard it said by some that suicide is an unforgiveable sin, but, I believe ther are more facets here than just right, or wrong. As you said, your friend was depressed, therefore he was sick, and not completly in his right mind. Therefore I believe, There is a release there because he did not know what he was doing. This is only my belief in the biblical aspect. I do not know what his faith was, and therefore cannot answer much further, only to say he is gone on,and that hopefully if he believed he was doing this to get peace, then he is therefore at peace, or perhaps starting over again.

I am sorry for your loss. and I know that my answer is not going to be what you want to hear but I cannot not tell you the truth and feel good about it.
You friend is NOT in the presence of God, but is eternally separated from Him.
We are told in the Bible that our bodies are the temple of God, and that we are not to harm the temple. Also we are commanded not to murder, and suicide is self murder. Also you cannot repent after you are dead, and therefore cannot repent for killing yourself.
As I stated before, I know this is not what you want to hear, but the truth is not always kind and a lot of the times is not popular. I will not say things just to make people feel better because I am under obligation to tell the truth at all times, as are all those who call themselves Christians.

The Bible says "Do not murder." This includes taking ones own life. It is a sin, but all sins are forgivable if you recieve the gift of salvation that God has provided through his son Jesus Christ. I am sorry for the loss of your friend, but I am sure that if he was a believer, that he is now in the presence of the Lord.

i also believe that he is with God now.
i have also lost a friend to suicide, as well as relatives. i can not say that i will ever understand their choice, and perhaps you feel this way about your friend. depression is a terrible thing, and suicide is a horrible way to lose a loved one.
yet i can not believe that God, who has created life, would punish or turn away from a soul who is so in need of comfort and hope. all people are precious to Him- may your friend find comfort and rest from suffering in the arms of the Lord. and may you find the peace and strength to help you through your grief.
**hugs**

Believe in your hearts and profess with your mouth that Jesus is the Son of God. I think its dumb to make the blanket statement all people who commit suicide go to Hell. All people have depressing moments. So it is possible for a Christian to take his/her life. But you have to ask where is that person faith. Where was there hope. I think thats why it is important for Christians to hear/read the word of God so its constantly with us.

I believe many people who commit suicide do it to heel them self not to punish others or make others suffer. There are a few who do it to avoid legal problems they are guilty of such as murder or molestation.(not that your friend did that) Depression is a very lonely, sad, heartbreaking illness. There is usually one thing that will put them over the edge totally and compounded with all the other negatives they feel it is the only solution for them personally.

I feel that everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for all of us. In cases such as this, I think that everyone is to learn from it. Whether it is, that you don't always completely know someone or that it can happen to you or someone close to you.
I feel that your friend went to God.
I am not a very religious person, but my prayers are with you.

If your friend was suffering from depression, then his life was taken by that disease. Just the same as if he was killed by cancer, a heart attack, or any other disease. This was one that took his mind, rather than his body. God does not condemn people for dying from a disease, whether physical or mental.
His method of death alone would not keep him from the presence of God.

My thoughts are sadness.
I'm so sorry your lost your friend. I'm sorry your friend found no help or release from him pain of depression.
Pray for him.
I'll pray for you.
No one on this earth is a judge so if someone here says your friend is in hell that person is not God.
The bible just doesn't say much at all about suicide.
Again I'm sorry.

Unlike Catholics, I do not believe suicide condemns a soul to the lowest level of hell.
It doesn't put you in very good company considering the people in the Bible who committed suicide, but there are very few sins that God won't forgive following true repentence.
