Mostly due to religious bias.....why is there enough religion to incite war but not enough religion to instill tolerance?? Those people have not figured it out for over 5000 years, I don't see them doing it anytime soon. What a waste of space and brainwaves.

I need to stress that the present understanding of Islam has been shaped by early islamic dynasties (mostly Umayyads) who managed to screw around with Sunna (the 2nd most important source of Islam legislation) so that Islam will fit their political agenda and support them in their war against Shiites. The truly reliable remaining text of Islam is the Quran. The Umayyads managed to add Hadiths (hadiths are accounts and quotes which originated from Muhammed) that allow killing a muslim who converts out of islam (perhaps to find a way to legally kill their political enemies). This idea allowed Sayeed Qutub (an Islamic scholar from egypt who was executed) to develop modern Islamic extremism which justified for people like bin Laden killing everybody who doesn't accept his understanding of islam, whether this person was muslim or not.
This idea is one of the pillars of islamic fundamentalism and has absolutely no basis in the Quran. I wanna ask my fellow muslims, do you think that God forgot to mention that muslims who convert out of islam should be killed, cuz i searched all Quran and found no such things. Muslims, we need to revise our religion, there are many f*cked up ideas which "muslims" added after muhammed; we need to throw them away.
