How about an upscale grilled cheese? Use real sourdough, and a cheese other than American, like provolone. Maybe some stone ground mustard and arugula or spinach. Think "panini". That'll dress up a tomato soup.

when serving tomato soup as the main course the best side dishes are Prime Rib, Mashed Potatoes and gravy
