It's incredibly difficult to leave the cult. Anyone who wants to leave Scientology and voices such a desire is subjected to hours, sometimes even days and weeks of sec [short for security] checking to find out what "crimes" they have committed against Scientology. Evidence in recent court cases has been introduced that indicates that information people had revealed, not only in sec checks, but in regular auditing has been used against Scientologists if they ever leave the group and try to make trouble.

Also, if you've paid for services like "auditing", you don't get refunded for services that have no yet been rendered. In one case, an Australian woman signed up for three hundred hours of auditing, took 175, and then asked for her money back. The register wrote her back that "the only way out is the way through," in other words, that she would have to take all 300 hours before she could leave Scientology and ask for her money back. This could cost her another $600 which she didn't have, so she wrote them back again. Again they wrote her "I repeat, the only way out is the way through."

I'd say that the only way to help people exit is to offer support, financial, emotional and psychological, during and after the process. Help find them legal defense in the case that Scientology gives them trouble in the way of withholding money or possessions that should rightfully be returned upon rescinding membership. Make sure at least a few people go with them IF it's necessary to fill out official "exit" paperwork (Scientology has been known to detain people against their will if Scientology, though they are unqualified to do so, deems them "unfit" to make their own decisions). Offer them a place of safe refuge away from the long reach of Scientology. If they feel the need to keep in contact with the organization, try to persuade them to cut all ties as continued contact can be nothing but counterproductive and damaging to their healing.

The scientologists CLAIM they are not a cult, so anyone smart enough to want out should just be able to not go back. If you know someone who is in that position, pray with them and talk to them about the love of Jesus the Christ. YBIC

I believe you're asking if there were any scientologist out there, how could we help them? I don't know.

Looking for scientologists online is almost useless - people who know how to search online would never fall for scientology.

Are you asking about anybody in particular? it's the nature of religions that people who buy into them seldom want 'out'.

If they wanted out why couldn't they walk out the door and not go back? Why do they need help?
