Eh.
You give the Chinese too much credit. Even if things went down the wrong way, u gotta remember about the F-22. Nothing compares to it in today's world even compared to the most recent SA Russian fighter which is really only a half generational leap.
More so, the Koreans have been working with both F-16s and F-15s for a very long time so the Chinese aren't exactly #1 in their region when dealing with Aerial combat.
If anything though, I'd like to see the Chinese take a couple of steps up against terrorism. If they introduced the j-10s against the f-14s which Iran has been working on for a while, it would show all Americans how China really is a military force to be reckoned with and that we can't slack off in defense any longer.

F-22's already in service. Want some pix?

South Korea's plan is to integrate more F-16s and F-15s into their AF, not F/A-18s which are much more costly to operate in both equipment and training. Go to the PRKs Military Defense site to check out their objectives over the next 20 years.
You guys are absolutely right about the tech gap. Can't say much more about how the Chinese are going to have to catch up quite a bit to contest our superiority in aerospace technology.
FA-18 doesn't go hypersonic speeds. It tops out at Mach 1.8. Google FA-18 top speed to check.

In the event that there are Chinese vs USAF air combat the US will almost certainly have the upper hand with dramiticaly better trained pilots and much better electronics systems. Also in regards to a previous post mentioning the F-22 Raptor that project has been scraped in favor of the much, much cheaper JSF(i think i have that acronym right). He also said some stuff about F-14s and F-15s, wich are also all on the way out, both being replaced by F/A-18s, and eventualy JSFs.

Wherever China is on military research, the US is 20 years ahead. When China gets to where the US is today, the US will be 40 years ahead. It's their economy that concerns me more. China will possibly surpass the US economy in the next few years and become a world superpower. It's almost inevitable that some type of standoff will occur between these 2 nations. I doubt it will be over Taiwan seeing as how Taiwan is backing down from the idea of declaring her freedom from China since they are being given more leniency from the Chinese government.

Chinese are very smart and developing very quickly and making so much new things all of sudden they are waking up it's crazy for me. I don't know, what they want to do with j-10 fighter? Helping Iran? Helping Iraq? Helping Afghanistan? Doing something together with Russia? Or using for their own protection against the rest the world one day?

why is everyone afraid of china? sure they have a military buildup and a large economy, but consider: the united states budget in military spending is 14 times that of china. which means that, in loose terms, if they build 1 plane, we can easily build 14 to counter them. simple as that. their nuclear arsenal is not international, meaning they wont be able to send one our way. their economy is in danger of overheating. by the year 2040, scientists predict that 430 million people in china will be over 60, severly damaging their economic output. by the year 2050, india (a US partner) will have more citizens and more global influence than china. so for everyone who has heard things about china's huge military buildup, it is still relatively small in the global scale. its like a race. the united states and the EU are a few laps ahead of them. while they are catching up, they can only push so hard for so long. and while their efforts may get them close, they were just too far behind to begin with. it is highly unlikely that china will be a contending superpower by the time the 21st century closes.

According to Bible Prophecy, we will be seeing these planes over U.S. skies in the future. We are a wayward nation that has abandoned the God of their "Founding Fathers". According to the religious beliefs of those "Founding Fathers" of the USA , we will see some major natural disasters like "The Big One" earthquake that is long overdue in California. Or the Yellowstone Caldera "Supervolcano" that could erupt at anytime. And as if thats not enough a large asteroid could hit with less than 10 minutes notice that could take us out. These are all considered "Acts of God" . Couldnt happen? What about Hurricane Katrina. You guys are all scared of a little idiot like Osama Bin Laden and you are not afraid to rebel against the Creator of the Universe? He saw this coming when He wrote about you in Biblical Prophecy. We are the "Babylon the Great " referred to in Revelation 17 and 18. Mentioned again in Jeremiah 50 and 51. When these things happen, the U.N. will step in and try and help the survivors. China will be a part of that. The J-10's are coming to rescue you someday. If we get right with God now maybe we can avoid all this.

apparently you people underestimated china's abilities, to tell you the least, the only country to be able to rival USA is the chinese, here's why: almost all the western countries uses F-series which USA produces, however, using a F-series plane would give china disadvantages in a war against USA, simply because "the invention can never defeat the inventor"

If they use the same quality control as for the vast majority of crap they ship here then we have nothing to worry about as most of their planes will fall apart before they take off and most of the rest will be lucky to survive landing.
