what date was the armistace signed in worldwar1 .iwas under the impression it was sometime in 1918,but I have since been told that it was not signed until 1919.can any historians out their please clarify .

The Armistace was 11/11/18. Perhaps you are thinking of the Treaty of Versailles which ratified the peace between France and Germany and was the cause of WWII.

The Armistace was signed in 1918 but the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919. It is easy to get the 2 confused.
