the reason i ask is because while many Christian claim to worship The Truth they tend to deny truth and fact when those truths and facts don't coincide with their idolized version of The Truth.

would Jesus want you to lie or deny truth in order to attempt the myths surrounding him viable?

Jesus IS Truth. So no, he would not want me to deny Truth.

I think there is spiritual 'truth' and then there is factual 'truth'. I don't believe they are the same thing, yet it seems the two camps often assume 'truth' has only one face.

Religion says "hey scientists - you have the truth (spiritual) wrong."
The assumption being that scientists are dealing with spiritual truth.

Science replies "no I don't I have the proof of truth (factual) right here."

Nobody sits back and says "hey, maybe we are talking about truth in a different context."

To be honest though, in my opinion, science seems to understand this ALOT better than religion does. Remember that when scriptures were written, science didn't really exist yet so of course the scriptures didn't make a distinction.

To relate the two camps, realize that science is in the business of describing the setting. Religion is in the business of telling the story. Two very different aspects of the same play.
