There are two types of ways that your cells obtain energy. The first is normaly through respiration and requires oxygen and is much more efficient(6 times more I think). This is why you need to breathe. The second way is through fermentation and does not require oxygen but is also much less effective. When working hard the flow of oxygen to the cells needs to be more, this is why your breathing rate increases. When the oxygen isn't great enough some cells swich to fermintation. This produces alcohol. Alcohol is actually a poison. Some of your cells die from this. That is the pain you feel. Also some cells are damaged. The muscles usually tend to grow back more and stronger so it kind of is muscles growing.

Actually you should srtech after you exercise, it helps big time on not getting sore the next day. I started doing an exercise video. The first two days no streching, on the thid day I finally tried it and Oh my God the achy soreness ended. But i would think you may also just need to get used to the exercise, not over so it. Good luck.

I would suggest you wait another day or two.
Exercising even when your body aches can cause even more body stress and pain.

You want to keep going. Maybe 2 hours was overkill for your first day though. Trim the time but keep going.
Good Luck

I was told to let the body recuperate, and not to exercise the same muscle groups when they were already exhausted.

I was weight training.
Might be different for pure cardio work...

you should definitely wait

don't want to exercise a body part if it's already sore

do you continue to put your hand on a hot pan even though it hurts?
