I have a 1 month old daughter and i live with my boyfriend and his family. ever since my daughter was born, his mother would take her and just wants all day with her. Shes my daughter and i would like to spend some bonding time with her but his mom would just want her all the time and i cant say no to her all the time. Its just that i feel like my daughter might not get used to me and would want her grandma instead of me. I'm afraid of her wanting her grandma more if she gets older and i wont be able to make her happy because shes so used to being with grandma. Will that happen?

Yes, you CAN say "no" to her. YOU are the mom and it is YOUR child and YOUR choice when she spends time with someone else and how long she spends away from you.

Personally, I wouldn't allow a baby that young away from me for more than 2 hours.

First off...don't be afraid to tell her that you want to have some mother daughter time...you deserve it, you had to carry her for 9 months. Tell her that you don't mind her seeing your daughter, just not all the time.
Also, I wouldn't worry, there's always that special mother-daughter bond! :)

You do have to watch out, if the baby see's her all day then it will confuse her and she might think of her as "mom". its sad to say but true, your mother-in-law may just be in that stage where she knows she wont have any more children so she is taking a huge love to yours.

I agree you should tell her how you feel its your daughter and you have every right to feel that way. Kids grow up so fast and you only get one chance to raise them the way you want.

your daughter will always know that u r her mom.

this is your daughter, u need to say no to her grandmother. she is still way too young to be apart from u. u can say no, whenever u want.
