What's the weight limit for a seat (economy or business) on an airplane? This is for a male, approximately 300 lbs, 42-44 inch waist, 5'10".

The real question is whether he can fit in the economy seats, or whether he needs a first class seat. It would be wise to check with the airline. I am over his weight, and expect to need a first-class seat when I fly, but then women have more butt than men, and so seat width is the big issue, if you will. But first class can clearly seat him.

Unless you are on a really small plane your are fine.. As long as you fit in one seat then you just need one but when you can not fit into just one seat and spill over into another they will make you purchase 2 seats.. My parents flew on DL to come and see me and my dad is about 450 and my my about 300 and they were fine. They just had to have an seat belt extender but was able to fit in the seats comfy. So it more depend on if you are comfy or not.. Your weight is not going to make a plane crash . I too am a big girl and I went on a prop and was just fine.. They moved a large man to the front on the other side and I was in the back on the right side.. So they know what they are doing and will let you know if you have to get another seat.
