LaPerms are gentle and affectionate but also very active. Unlike many active breeds, the LaPerm is also quite content to be a lap cat. The LaPerm will often follow your lead, that is if they are busy playing and you decide to sit and relax, simply pick up your LaPerm and sit down with it and it will stay on your lap devouring the attention you give it. LaPerms seek human contact and will purr as soon as they become aware of your presence. They are inquisitive by nature and always want to know what is going on around them. They will reach for your face with their paws and rub their faces against your head, neck and face.

LaPerms are truly different from any other breed of cat because of their unique combination of appearance and people oriented personalities.

I don't know what a Laperm cat is, but I believe that any breed of cat (or other pet) is fine as long as you do the research on what is involved in taking care of it. Some breeds do need special care and have lists of things to watch for. Personally, I love the "farm kitty". You know, part one breed and part "sneaky neighbors cat". I just grew up with the mixed breeds I guess.

It would be much kinder to give a home to a rescue cat!

There are only a certain amount of homes for cats and the number of cats needing a home always exceeds this. I don't understand how animal lovers can choose a cat which has been bred deliberately, (and to make money,) knowing there are not enough homes and other moggie cats will be destroyed because of this.

A friend has oone and thus far it is healthy and fine. I have no idea what the long term will hold for the breed. I doubt I would pay a lot for something I was that unsure of.

Hi Charlie, I haven't read anywhere that there are any genetic problems with LaPerm cats ... I think the only difference is that they have curly fur instead of straight.

Here's the UK LaPerm Club website:

http://www.laperm.info/

Plus some links to breeders in the UK with info about LaPerms on their site.

They sound like good cats to have around.
