I don't want to get a GED, not that there's anything wrong with it. I'm fine with taking college entrance exams. In my state (Texas) you don't have to get a GED to be recognized as a successful graduate of private education.
I called University of Phoenix, and they require a GED or hs diploma. Does anyone know (from personal experience) of universities (perferrably with online/distance courses) that accept home-schooled students?

Since posing this question, I've learned that MANY colleges accept home-school students, including HARVARD and YALE, noting that a diploma has never been a requirement for entrance.
SAT testing is a requirement.
I added these details, in case others need to know.
I don't have anything against a GED, but I didn't drop out of school, I choose to learn independently, and in a private setting. Prior to homeschooling, I went to one of the best and celebrated highschools in the nation. I don't need a GED to validate my learning, and that's recognized by the great state of Texas, and by many prestigous colleges in the country. So, I have renewed faith.
Thanks everyone for the answers. but to the comment @ 8th graders: all colleges have their requirements for entrance, like the ability to synthesize information. If a 14 yo is advanced enough to do it, more power to them. it's not @ accepting anyone who applies... ppl who apply should be advanced enough to get through the circulum.
