Yes, it annoys me, because i would be so happy to look like her. What i couldn't help telling her was "so if you nag that you have to lose those extra 8 pounds that keep you from looking JUST right, then you must very glad you aren't me----how ~CoNvEnIenT!~ huh?" I laughed mockingly, and she quit being such a whiner.

Upset no, annoy yes.
But it's quite possible that your friend ISN'T just doing it for attention. She may actually believe that she's fat.
Of course I can't see her for myself, so you're the best judge of this.
But as an example, when I was 110 pounds I thought I was fat. What I actually was was curvy. But I looked at what appeared to be obscene amounts of extra flesh in places others didn't have it, and called it being fat.
If What Not to Wear had been on TV then, I might actually have realized that at worst, I had figure flaws or issues that could be easily addressed by wearing the proper clothes.
Not looking good in stretch pants doesn't make you fat.

If your friend is a teen, then maybe she is also insecure and really thinks she is too fat, which is really sad. Ask her how much she weighs, and go on the Internet to check if she is "normal" (you need her height), then show her the results. If she is still complaining, tell her she should exercise! Because you can be slim and have orange skin as well! And a belly!

It is annoying but she probably sees herself fat and has issues. The mind can sometimes effect matter. Try convincing a person suffering from a hallucinatory related illness that it is all in their mind and you might empathize with your friend and stop feeling as though her behaviour is some twisted form of irony.

It sounds like you skinny friend has some self esteem issues. She is looking for reassurance that she isn't fat. Perhaps if you tried reverse psychology you might get her to stop this behavior?
And to answer your question no I don't have a friend like that, simply because yes that kind of behavior would annoy me too!

Yes. And it never stops. When your out eating somewhere they make a spectacle too, saying how they can't eat this or that or that they really shouldn't be eating what they order. It's really sick and it upsets people. Hope some skinny people will read this and stop being so annoying! P.S. I like snail's answer.

I agree. For the most part I would say that most people that say that are just trying to get people to say how thin they are. It use to bug me, but now I just say something like, "Oh," and they quit right away. Almost like they are unsure as if I agree or what. It's kinda funny.

Yes, it is terribly annoying. I go to Curves with a friend who may need to lose 1 lb, but she is constantly acting as if she is sooo obese. She looks like a Barbie (but she is smart) and I love her to death, but it is annoying. Do you think she hangs with me because it makes her look even skinnier?! (LOL)
I hope your friend isn't anorexic.
