So that he can meet us? Say, atleast a month's leave? Or will he get stationed immediately or be sent to A - School? He's still 18yrs, an undergrad .. Do I keep hopes of him returning home, for a vacation? Or will the rights to a holiday be denied? Please reply soon ... I really don't know if all my dreams of seeing him will crash ...

No, we are not U.S. Citizens .. we are Indians, and he has been staying there with his parents since just over about a year now. He says, he might soon get citizenship with the Navy's help .. I stay here in India, and there is no way I can go meet him without disowning my family!!!

He stays in the U.S, in CT .. Now at Great Lakes for training .. It's been over a year and a half since he's been here to visit his hometown ... As I mentioned earlier, I was pretty pessimistic about him being granted leave..but still wanted to know as I din't want to build on false hopes ..

Wow. Forget all about a month's leave! In the 80's, they didn't permit leave follwoing boot camp at all. Didn't want people running off and not coming back, because boot camp is a lot harsher than real navy life. No leave and right into something better and the hope was by the time you do get leave, you won't be shell-shocked anymore and wanting out. And you'll have earned leave by then too!
The other answerer seems to think a week could be permitted. I admit I can't say about today, but I'm betting that's optimistic. No chance on a month.
As to A-school, if the school is on the same base, say Great Lakes, then no leave, no nothing, just carrying his seabag to the school and following directions as to housing and temporary work assignment while waiting to be classed up. But... at that time, he will be allowed daily liberty to leave base on non-duty days and a girl with enough money could vacation nearby and see him every other day or two of three, after working hours but he would have to be back at the barracks by a specified time.
After A-school, depending on his assignment, he will likely have at least travel time to spend with you (and travel!). Usually leave was granted then as well, but the next school or the ship might have scheduling concerns limiting leave.
By the way, there are no "holiday rights" in the service or any other job for that matter. There are things one earns just like pay and has to take under conditions — just like pay. One takes his check when it is offered, not daily or hourly or whatever-ly on his whim. Think in terms of rights, not earned benefits, and you will end up with righteous anger that shouldn't exist and that won't help you in dealing with the service or its concerns. At all.
You can visit boot camp the weekend of graduation and liberty is usually granted then as well. See him then and watch him march in the graduation ceremony. Then see what life brings before building hopes without foundation.
Added:
Almost forgot: I am very intrigued by "to return to our country." Are you US citizens? If not, and he is part of some program that sent him to US Navy boot camp and schooling, all bets are off. He might have benefits as part of a foreign navy that are nothing like ours at all. The program might recognize the extended separation from home country and family could be deleterious to successful schooling and offer leave in between schools (boot camp is considered a school, bizarre as that sounds). If so, talk to an official in the same service in your country, or perhaps his parents, for details.

Other branches of the US Military allow leave after Boot Camp, but NOT the Navy. Sorry. There are rare exceptions to this--like at Christmas, but that's pretty much it. And even then, no way it would be a month. Expect him to get some time after A-school, but even then, a month may be pushing it. Will he being going to a C-school after A-school? That could push the time out even further. Because of the length of his schooling, our son was in the Navy just shy of two years before he got anything more than 10 days at once.

they get at the most a weeks leave. and that is based on when "a" school starts many only get an hour or two to visit with family before being shipped to the airport and off to school. no such thing as a months leave after boot camp they havent earned that much time off
added
they get no leave after boot camp because they are afraid that they wont come back and many wouldnt. its a big headache that can easily be avoided. if he is given leave it will be where boot camp is. and only for a couple days. my husband when he was in boot camp was given three days but he had to remain living in the barracks and had to be in by a certain time each night. his parents flew half way across the country from alaska so he was granted a couple days with them. not all get this. i met him after boot camp but he told me alot about it. sorry he cant leave the country for a month. not even guys who have been in for a few days get that kind of leave. two weeks at a time. we got a month of leave when we moved after he was done with school he was given that much so he could find housing for his family and get used to town. mainly to get housing.
also added. he will never be granted a months leave. there are too many other people wanting leavce to allow one person to be gone that long sorry

Karen, you both have to be very physically, emotionally and spiritually strong. The military teaches you those skills. Since you have both chosen the same career to serve in the Navy, you probably have more of a "fighting chance" of surviving your relationship because you both equally will know how difficult your survival will be. I think you two will have such a bonded relationship, and really grow to appreciate life and each other. I don't think you have to worry about not marrying him. I don't know you, but I am still very impressed that you both chose to share this experience with and away from each other. I wish you both the best, and God bless you for fighting for our Country.

he will get NO leave between boot camp and A school. he will get NO leave during A school UNLESS he will be in school during the last 2 weeks in December, when all the bases shut down.
he will be able totake some leave aftre school before reporting to his first duty station, but how much he can take will depend on what his orders say.. he may only get a few days or he may get as much as 2 weeks.

First of all Navy Boot Camp is like camping in the park behind your house. And yes, he will get leave not matter what after boot camp. He will tell you maybe not and all that to act as if he is going to be deploy right away but the true is that every recruit get 15 days leave after boot camp regardless, AND EVEN IF HE GET DEPLOY HE IS IN THE NAVY, UNLESS HE IS A MARINE CORP CORPMAN THE ONLY ACTION HE IS GOING TO SEE IS HIS FRIEND TAKING A CRAP INTHEIR IG SHIPS.
