Pros-

Nothing like top down feel especially on long road trips.

Cons-

Guys slashing your top is pretty common.
Road noise can be fatiguing.
Fading and needing to replace top after a few years if not taken care of.

Best of both worlds might be a retractable hard top.

It all depends on how much you would like to spend.

The new bmw 3 series hardtop convertible will handle better than most cars, top up or down, it'll be quiter than most cars without the drop top feature, and has all the features of a luxury car. You will lose some trunk space with the top down, but that's a small price to pay for this car.

Just bought a VW Eos 3 weeks ago. It is fantastic. It is a hard top convertable and there is still ok space in the trunk with the roof down.
The only drawback to the hardtop convertable is it eats the trunk in most of them, But it's not bad in the Eos.

Convertibles also "flex" alot due to not having a solid roof. Hence why you do not see any racers with convertibles. Unless they have a cage built in. They do not handle or hug the road as well as a solid car.
