I work with school age kids and the color this week is blue so i need a fun and creative way to have the kids do an activity that deals with the color blue. Any help?

You should have a craft session. My favorite grade school activity goes as follows:

You will need:
Blue paint, white paint, black paint, heavy duty paper, paintbrushes (or fingers if you can trust them ;-D) and either a timer, a clock with a second hand, or a good sense of time judgement,

Give each child a piece of construction or heavy duty paper- white is best. Also give them a paintbrush and a dab of blue paint on the center of their paper. Give them 1 minute to paint with the blue dab of paint on the paper. Then pour a little more blue paint and a little white paint on the right top corner of the paper and tell them to paint with it for 1 minute. Lastly, give them a dab of blue and a dab of black in the bottom left corner. Let them paint with that for 1 more minute. They will learn more about tints (with white) and shades (with black). The paintings don't have to be of anything- they can be abstract. Give them creative freedom. Then ask some students to share, and when they dry, hang them up for display. I love this activity to this day (and I'm 13!)

I'm not sure where you live, but each town usually has a website with ideas for holiday activities. Some other ideas (off the top of my head) include: * spend a day at a beach / lake / river / swimming pool * play in the park * drive somewhere nice and go for a walk * visit your local library * go bike riding / rollerblading * do some cooking / baking together * go on a picnic * hire a DVD rather than go to the movies * go to your local op shop (I'm not sure what you call them in America - charity store?) and find some good dress ups / costumes so the kids can be creative and make up interesting characters / put on a play * have a big tidy up and then have a garage sale (yard sale?) or donate it to charity * do some arts and crafts (local library might have good books with simple activities) * invite friends over to play / go to a friend's house * play board games / card games * do a task together (jigsaw puzzle, model airplane...) I'm sure there are website with good ideas too. Maybe google 'activities for children' and see what comes up. Good luck! :)

Have them bring in a blue object. Give them a square piece of paper and have them draw that object. Then, put all the pieces of paper together to look like a quilt and hang it up somewhere.

What I did with my kids was have them bring their favorite blue item from home on one day, another day we used food coloring to change water in a water bottle different shades of blue, another day we tie-died fabric (shirts, socks, etc) with different blue shades, and so on and so on.

The Indianapolis Colts are blue and white and are playing in the AFC Championship game this weekend! :-) Maybe you could do something about football.
