We like a little sweetness with the ol' chicken and dumps. Coleslaw (easy if you buy bagged, shredded cabbage & bottled dressing) or a gelatin salad are great go-withs. Peas or steamed carrots are also a plus. I'm getting hungry!

Chicken and dumplings are old fashioned comfort foods. So why not old fashioned Jello? I thought of strawberry Jello with peaches and bananas. After all, there's always room for Jello!

Try Paul Prudhomme's recipe for steamed dumplings. They are very light and fluffy. It's in his Louisiana Kitchen cookbook.
