i need help to convert a QuarkXPress file into .pdf format.

When i use the: FILE > EXPORT > FILE AS PDF i get the following message box:
'To save a layout as a PDF file a postscript printer must be set up to print a file'

Can anyone help with this? I have heard something about 'virtual postscript printers' would this work and how do i do it?

All help would be gratefully recieved!

(alternatively does anyone have the ability to do this that i could mail the files to?)

Hi, heres something you can try.

With your document open, go into your print dialog box like you would normally print the job.
Then in the lower left hand corner is a button that says "PRINTER", click that.
Then, again in the lower left hand corner is a button that says "PDF", click that.
Select "SAVE AS PDF".
It will then ask you where you want to save it.

You dont have the control options that you do when you export as a pdf, but it might work for.

If that doesnt work, when you select "SAVE AS PDF", select the option to "SAVE PDF AS POSTSCRIPT".
Again, it will ask you where you want to save it.
It will make a .ps file, which you can then distill is you have Acrobat Distiller.

If those dont work for, email me, and let me know. And I can make a .pdf out of it for you.

Good luck.
