I personally think its how a person is raised that determines how they are able to love. The latin culture is very male chauvinistic, which is certainly a factor. But it probably goes deeper than that. A lot of men in general have this problem, not just latin men. If you can't deal with it move on.

Hey girl, I'm going through something SIMILAR!!! I don't know what your situation is, but I work with a guy who is always so suave and charming, and he tells me "te quiero mucho" and will say "I only want to be with you, you only, quieres ser mi novia?? tu eres bonita, por que no tienes un novio...?" blah blah blah after I say he has many "novias." I'm friends with him, but it is sometimes really hard to believe him. His eyes make me MELT and for some reason he is the only guy that I can't stay mad at. He has a special hold on me or something, and it SUCKS, he can work people over and he knows it!!
So yah basically it seems like they are all players. They are always full of compliments and I love them to death, but sometimes they are too macho and feel like they have to be with every girl they find attractive. They aren't shy about their feelings at all, and will let you know straight up if they want to be with you. I've also noticed a lot of them are married and still have a "single" mentality!
Good luck with whatever your problem is, you aren't the only one if that makes you feel any better! I can relate!! :)
However, I do know that not ALL Latin men are like this, and some white, black, asian, purple, pink etc men are the same way. :)
Buena suerte amiga! :)

Some places in culture say guys get to eat first while the women wait and and foot and refill drinks etc. Then when the guys are done the women sit down and get to eat. While this has gone out of American tradition a bit back (was it ever there?) it's still strong in some hispanic cultures. So, the expectation of love is a little different. They might be saying "you'd make a good woman-slave" while you think they're saying "You're so awesome you're my equal that I'd let run my business if I get ill"

Men of all different colors play around with that word. However, not all men are that way...

Not all guys say it (those that are interested in getting to know someone and not just get laid tend to be afraid of that word) - and some only say it because they think it is what you need to hear to remove your pants.
