I have a friend who is charming and thought liked me and thought was my secret pal. I have known him seven months and found out over time he has a track record with women and been married four times within the last 10 years. He also has let his temper get him into trouble with women... He does not seem to know what he wants to do but plays women along which is wrong. Would a guy with his record with women drive him to be manipulative, condescending, lying, etc. to take things out on others? I just have a hard time with him now because of these things.

I think you've answered your own question. If you think that he's after you, well, you have good reason to. If it's a question of having lost respect for him, perhaps you shouldn't continue to be his friend. There is a chance that he may actually need your friendship because he doesn't have a lot of friends of the opposite sex because he always ruins the friendships by pursuing the women! But at the end of the day there isn't a whole lot that you can do for someone like that. You may already be a bit caught up though because you seem to think that he does not know what he wants to do. Someone who does not know what they want to do, yet find themselves in relationships that don't last, or perhaps they manipulate the women, is simply a nice guy taking advantages of opportunities that pop up where they can gain some clear advantage. They're probably dealing with someone more pathetic than themselves and need to feel better about who they're not. A womanizer has more of a method, a clear path or some tried and true methods that work for getting close to the women in his life. It's fascinating, but I wouldn't be too sympathetic towards him because again, you have to protect your own feelings ...

A lot of people take out past experiences on the new people who enter their life. Basically though I think it is weak for someone to use this excuse as everyone is resposnible for their own actions. Maybe he had his heart broken and now wants to make everyone pay!
Best idea would be to ask him why he acts the way he does.
