Aya,

you've missed an "o" from the word God and replaced it with a hyphen. Was this intentional? I hope not, it's insulting to write peoples' names incorrectly and you wouldn't want to insult God now would you. Then you might feel his wrath.

Let's assume for the sake of your question that there is a God, and that this God blesses America. It would be difficult to tell what form that blessing might take. There are occasions upon which a defeat may be a blessing. Take an alcoholic, for example, only when that person realizes his or her utter defeat at the hands of alcohol can he or she begin to recover.

Japan was defeated in World War II, and has since become a dominant force in world markets. That defeat led to a phoenix-like rising.

It might be that God would bless America by allowing its enemies to triumph.

Not sure God blesses America specifically (or that we can invoke God's blessings, a la Jules Feiffer: "Come on, audience, don't we God bless this man and his wonderful dog?"), but I don't think it's a zero sum proposition: I think God's grace doesn't require taking away something from someone else. Love is infinite.

God does not bless America according to the Bible.

The Bible's God, ruler of the universe, runs counter to the American Constitution. He does not support democracy (He rules; Psalms 2,89,110: the King is Yawweh's son), freedom of religion (no other gods allowed) or freedom of speech (no blasphemy). The Bible's god, many believe, will throw the majority into a lake of fire.

God "makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust" (Matthew 5:45).

So God does bless everybody, even America.

Apparently, God only blesses America with natural disasters and corrupt politicians.

Thanks, Jesus.

For some reason we are a little ethnocentric. We are blessed, but so are other countries. It is our job to love our enemies, not wish them harm.
