You don't say whether he's married or in a relationship? If not, then perhaps you could ask him to lunch or just coffee to test the waters. You should be prepared however, for him just being a nice guy and treating you in a certain way because he is older and respecting you. Tread lightly and good luck!

He'll take it from there. My husband is 16 years older than me.
That's how I let him know.
