If your ear is really hurting that bad, you need to call your doctor and tell him, so he can prescribe some stronger pain medication.
I have had ear infections over and over since I was 19 yrs old and noting is worse. It hurts like crazy, and the doctors pass it off as nothing much. I bet the MD told you to take Ibuprophen or Tylenol. What a joke!
I understand your pain. Please call the doctor. I had to get a new doctor once because the pain was intolerable. She prescribed some Vicodin and it gave me relief.
Meanwhile, I am praying for you. I know you are in pain.
I also need to add, a heating pad will help your ear hurt less.

Swimmers ear drops will not do any harm however I feel an additional travel to the see health care professional is so as. You will have an ear illness. The ear beginning is going in just a small distance after which there's your ear drum. Behind this ear drum is an field with fluid in it and from this internal field the eustachian tube runs to the sinus field. If the eustachian tube is blocked you'll have a sensation of strain like while your ears pop. If you lightly tug your ear and it's sore you customarily have an outer ear illness from anything like swimming. If no longer its customarily an internal ear illness requiring antibiotics.

Ear infection can be painful; I hope your doctor started you on an antibiotic. When ibuprofen is not controlling the pain you may need a narcotic such as Vicodin. Call the doctors office and tell them you are not sleeping; lack of sleep in harmful and needs to be treated in itself. You should not be charged again because it relates to the same visit.

Do you have an ear infection?
There are ear drops that can be prescribed to help with the pain. Ask your doctor to prescribe that. If all else fails, Try seeking a second opinion since your doctor didn't seem to help too much.

You will have to approach a skilled Acupuncturist or think visiting us if possible, otherwise you will become mad.
There is no medicine on this problem and only Acupuncture treats it; but doctors never suggest Alternate Medicine Systems as a part of business.
