I truely feel for you my dear, you will have to let the virus run it's course, and it can become worse so beware. DO NOT scratch the spots if at all possible, it will spread and also that is where scarring occurs . The calamine lotion helps with the itch and in drying up the blisters. Take cool baths with Aveno Oatmeal that can be purchased at Pharmacy or your store choice. You are contagious until the blisters shrink or become crusted. Another that helps with itching is Benadryl but it will make you drowsy and sleepy. Upon blisters appearing, you've got about 2weeks of turmoil. They can get in your ears, throat, mouth, private parts, ect. and people have been hospitalized due to having chickenpox. SCRATCHING with bursted blisters is what leads to infection!!!! People take it for granted that getting the chickenpox is no big deal but it TRUELY CAN BE!!!!! Worse on teenagers and adults than children. Stay hydrated and rest and AWAY from others that haven't had the chicken pox. If any issues that pop up, you need to consult with your doctor and inform him(her) .

There have been tests done that prove that the drug oral acyclovir (4 g/d) have been beneficial in adults with varicella If the acyclovir therapy was begun within the first 24 hours of varicella exanthem, then the rash and clinical illness were dramatically lessened. However, it would appear that in this case the 24 hour period has elapsed. Minor complications, including prolonged fever, localized secondary infections, persistent cough, and prolonged fatigue are more frequently noticed in adults. You would be advised not to scratch exposed areas like the face, as the resulting mark will normally form a scar. You might consult your pharmacist for an antihistamine to use that will reduce or stop the irritation, as well as pain killers to reduce the fever if it occurs. The medication given to you by your doctor should be continued with and you should inform your pharmacist of that medication. This is because there may be a more proficient medication than calamine for soothing the rash/blisters. (As an aside, Chickenpox - Varicella - is caused by the virus Herpes Zoster, also called Varicella Zoster virus. You are infectious from about two days before the rash appears until roughly five days after. It takes 10-21 days for the symptoms to show after you’ve come into contact with the virus. This is called the 'incubation period')
Hope this information is of help

I wouldn't get too worried about the chicken pox. More than likely you were immunized for them. Ask your mom she would know. It is pretty routine that they do that now in the doctor's office. If that is true you will not get them at all. I had the chicken pox when I was around 9 or 10 and all that really bothered me was the itching. Do not worry about your period either, that has nothing to do with the chicken pox at all. You will get your period when your body is ready, if not soon probably in the next year or 2 at the latest. Relax, don't worry about things...enjoy life, you are young.

Chicken pox in adults can be dangerous. Use vitamin E it will help prevent scarring. Try not to itch, I know easier said than done. Oatmeal baths are very soothing, just mix oatmeal into the tub and soak for awhile. Even benadryl helps with the itching

You have received some good advice here. I want to add that you can use besan (gram flour) instead of oatmeal, or Sarna lotion manufactured by Stiefel laboratories. Phenergan tablets will help with itching and sleep. This will last for about 10 to 12 days. Do not scratch. Hold on, and you'll be fine.

OH I'm so sorry that would be miserable. You have gotten a lot of good advice here I just wanted to add Aveeno has an oatmeal bath powder. It is great!! I use it on my son when his eczema flairs up. You might also want to try neosporin (sp?) for the sores, do not get the generic stuff use the real neosporin (sp?) It will help with the scaring.Hope you feel better soon!!!!!

CP scars can last a long time. Mederma helps with scaring, but it is expensive. It is available at some pharmacies OTC. But you can ask your doctor about scaring. As for the symptoms now, oatmeal baths (dont use real oatmeal) by an oatmeal containing soap, can help with the irritation and itching.

I take it you have never had c.p before. If you had, they would consider it shingles because you are an adult. But these symptoms you list are not the symptoms for shingles. Anyway, the only thing you can do for your face if they do show up is to not scratch or pick at the ones on your face. This will leave scars.
