I am going on my first cruise in Feburary and my flight arrives at the airport at 2:59pm and the cruise ship port is about 20mins away from the airport is this enough time to be able to get to the ship if the cruise departs at 5:00pm.

(Im going on freedom of the seas by royal caribbean)

That is not enough margin for time. Sincerely.
Remember a cruise has to check in thousands of passengers plus luggages. So they start the process hours in advance, it's better to be early than late.
Assuming your plane lands exactly on time, it will take time to taxi to the terminal. Then assuming you have no check in luggage and storm through the exits with all possible efficiency, you'll be at the cruise terminal by 4:00 pm or so. Some cruise would have close the check in counter by then.

If everyone is on time you should probably be ok - but it might be close. Things to consider, an on time arrival at the Airport, the wait to receive your baggage after the plane lands, rush hour traffic between the airport and the Port and finally time considerations for the cruise lines. The last thing you can call the cruise line about but the other things are gonna be variable.

Have fun - cruises are wonderful!

Did you book your flights through the cruise company? They usually ask you to arrive before a certain time. There should be a Royal Caribbean rep at the airport meeting flights, then they shuttle you to the port, it's a quick and easy trip, as long as your flight is on time it shouldn't be a problem.

That should give you enough time. The "in process" for checking in takes a little while, but I imagine by the time you get there most people will have already registered and began loading on the ship. You should be fine, but I wouldn't take my time too much.

I've been on two, you're gonna have a WONDERFUL time. I wish you the best...oh, and people may not tell you but if you go to the ships infirmary, you can get motion sickness pills for free if you have any problems..

Hope you have fun, Lynn

Shouldn't be a problem. Just pay for a cab to be safe. There are usually long lines when embarking, so I would pay for the cab just to make sure you get there timely.

You might be cutting it close.
