Assuming the bible story was true, I don't think that would such a good idea, considering Moses came back down with a red face as though he had been sunburned or exposed to some kind of radiation...humans aren't supposed to be able to look at God.

Of course they can! It says so in the Bible, and if the Bible says it, it must be true! Nevermind the fact that ancient people thought heaven was a big dome with the sun, moon, and stars attached, and if you climbed high enough you could reach it; nevermind that this contradicts what science says about the nature of the sky; you just climb right up there and talk to your invisible friend, just like Moses did!

God does not make his presence dwell permenantly in any one place. The way to see God is by being pure in heart and through prayer. You can do this anywhere, not just on Mt Horeb.
