check on MilitaryOneSource.
If you do not live on or near a base, the government will cover anything over a certain rate that the on-base would charge.

I've heard of a program where they do help out with daycare costs. I don't think it's at every military installation though. My understanding of it is that if the CDC is too full, and the local daycares are more expensive than the national average, they have a deal worked out with specific daycares that military can get a lower rate. This is to help out in cases where the cost of living in the area is higher than a military family can afford. As someone else said, try MilitaryOneSource or ask the people at your CDC.

It is not the military's responsibility to pay or help pay for your childcare. I do not have kids but my best friend does and she had a difficult time enrolling her child at the CDC on base. They are usually full. It is more expensive than off base daycares and they do not have a huge emphasis on education. You can check with your local daycares. A lot have a program where you just pay hourly which would probably work best if you are going to school.

bases have CDCs where you pay by paygrade, but many times the waiting list to get into the base CDC is very long.
When ones spouse is deployed, occassionally they will have night babysitting offered in a group setting so that the parent left behind can have a night off.
The military doesn't subsidize privately owned/civilain day care costs.

Yes they do help pay for childcare, there is a lot of paperwork to fill out but they will only help if your child is enrolled at an on base site, I also think that it is only if the child is enrolled at an IHD (In Home Daycare) on base. I don't remember the rules for that.

daycare is not free for the service members its based on your pay.but that's only on base. i have a friend who had her son in daycare on base and she paid 225 a pay day
never heard of a program where they subsidize your child care. thats an expense thats on you not them to pay. you made the child your the one who pays to raise it. personally it seems to me that your out to take advantage of the system by saying oh hes military so i am entitled to more. no your not. you get his pay. plus you own. you have the money to pay for child care. the military gives you money for rent. already. if you cant afford it you need to reevaluate your spending because you are living beyond your means and need to eliminate something.

i dont think its any kind of discount nor do they help you with paying for your day care it is only that you can get day care cheaper on army base then outside.thats to my knowledge. and it is also based on your husbands rank like if he is sgt then yes the day care is higher as if he is just a pfc or pvt which would make it cheaper

I'm waiting with baited breath to see a conservative or liberal response on this one--
Hmm-- a hand out to military folks to subsidise day care.
