It is a school that believe in the Montessori method.
The Montessori method is both a methodology and educational philosophy. It was originally developed in the early 1900s by Dr. Maria Montessori as a way to educate the lower-income children of the San Lorenzo district of Rome in her native Italy. Many Montessori schools are preschool or elementary school in level, but there are some Montessori programs which begin with infants and/or end at 12th Grade. Montessori stated, "I have studied the child. I have taken what the child has given me and expressed it and that is what is called the Montessori method."

When my stepkids were in Montessori, the classroom environment was not rows of desks - if there were desks they were in a circle, or the class used long tables. The kids made "work contracts" that said what they would do , by when. The teachers had more of a "one on one" approach with the way each kid learned. You may have different grades in one room and the teacher would float between the groups getting them through the different phases of their work day. They changed classes for science and music.

It's a VERY high-end preschool/day care. They teach the kids a lot more than most places, trying to get their creative juices going and stimulating their brains. Very good for kids if you can afford it.

But in plain English it is a way of teaching so that a child has fun. Teaching the child in the way they learn best through play and nurturing their natural abilities..Focus on teaching children to discover the potential in themselves. Stressing learning in a fun and stimulating environment.
Hope this helps you some..s
