I checked alot of guidelines... and im not really overweight... I weight between 130-135 and im 5'5 tall......
But I really want to lose weight around my butt and hip area...
It seems liek I have alot of fat around my hips , lower stomach, and thighs. I dont necessarily want to lose alot of weight, just 10 ounds or so but I do want to tone up those parts of my body.
What can I do as far as diet and exercise goes..please help!
Im starting grad school in a week and I want to be in good condition.

There is no site specific way of losing fat... for instance, the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. You can improve tone and build muscle in a site specific way.

The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.

Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming,running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions,pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull,leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

for starters you are not overweight if your a guy you are underweight. If your trying to loose ten pounds the best way to do it is by eating healthy foods. Stay away from drinks that contain high fructose corn syrup and sodas, gateraide and juices that are high in sugar. Drink 6-8 8 oz glasses of water per day, drink warm flavored tea( without sugar) to help melt fat.

i discovered something great.... try yoga booty ballet, if you cant afford the tapes, try and find the infomericals and watch and learn specific moves , it works wonders on your *** and theighs.. i absolutly love it... or try an ballet type in general, http://www.beachbody.com/jump.jsp?itemID=79&itemType=CATEGORY&path=1,2,21 just look over the site, maybe they show you moves.. im not sure.. but trust me, it is wonderful!!!!! plus be glad thats where you carry your weight, its healthy in those areas, means you dont carry a high risk of any heart disease.. good luck, and most importantly have fun while you do it, or you will NEVER suceed.
