To me, from an outside perspective, I can't think of too many examples in which an organized religion has really promoted female equality. Maybe, Epsicopalians, because they support the ordination of women....

Just look at the Baptists, who have openly come out against having female preachers.

Look at the Muslim and Amish Communities where women have to wear veils.

Do you think the Dali Lama would ever be a woman? Even Scientology is focused around a guy. Muhammed, Jesus, and Moses were all men, no surprise there. Do you think an orgainzed religion would ever be focused around a woman?

So women, my question is this. Why do you put up with these stupid religions that seem to be so focused on keeping you one step behind men?

Children are indoctrinated into the religion of their parents (which almost invariably turns out to be the religion of the region). Children, in the beginning, can't say no to their parents even if they do "say" it. Parents figure that taking their kid to their respective places of worship in order to instill into them the same reverence they have for their particular faith (REGARDLESS of the child's inability to consent to being taught to worship a concept they couldn't possibly comprehend and regardless of the fact that the parents don't know if this child would believe in their particular faith and deity if the child DID understand) is as important and necessary as giving their kid a bath or clothes or beds.

It's really really really hard to break away from something that has been drilled into ones head day in, day out, since before one can remember. When a child is inculcated with faith, it's incredibly hard for them to remove themselves form what has no doubt become their entire life's perspective. This applies to both men & women.

Who said the women are one step behind. You are talking out of lack of knowledge. Men and women are equal in Islam. At the timeof the prophet, even women joined him in the wars and we take half of our religion which was explained in detail through the wife of the Prophet to whom the greatest of Prophet Mohamed's friends used to go for her advice. Biggest right of all, right to divorce your husband and not be stuck in a miserable marriage

I think this is why pagan religions, which heavily involve a goddess figure who is central to the cycles of life, are very appealing to women.
