In the forum I'm on, I try to be as nice and fun as possible but it seems like people gang up on me for it. Like today.. I started a thread and someone hated the idea of it so they reported me to a mod and it got deleted and then he told the mod to go into my private threads and he locked all of them! It made me so mad. I mean, you do something wrong and so your punished in so many ways for it! UGH! Sorry, I think I'm venting but I just want to know if when your being picked on by people in a forum, and you can't have a higher authority person help, would you quit? I'm thinking of deleting my account, because I'm fed up.

~ I sent a "mass pt" and it was urgent so I asked the people not to report me, due to the fact I needed everyone to read it but someone reported it and 3 mods jumped onto me about it and I tried to explain but they almost banned me because I replied to them!

If someone gangs up on me, I do try to report them to a mod but the mod gives me crap about it. It's like they get mad at me for reporting someone being mean, asking them to take care of it, which is their job!

You certainly can. But before you do, you might try and find out why you're getting mobbed. "Mobbing" is a term used these days in the workplace that indicates that a group is ganging up on an individual and harassing them in the hopes they will quit. Seems like it applies to this scenario too. But if everyone quit, then the people harassing others would win. So, at some point, someone has to stand up to harassment

I think Thomas K had the best suggestions so far. Go in and see if you can private message someone you trust in the forum and find out why this is happening. Make a complaint to higher ups if you must (unless they are part of the problem, then see if you can go above their heads too)

There's a lot of different things you can do. Consider compromising. If you're able to get a straight answer from someone as to why they're behaving this way towards you, let them know you'll try not to do whatever it is you do that bothers them. Or you'll try to change. Or whatever it is, you'll make an effort on your part. Even if it doesn't change there behavior, atleast you'll be able to find out somethings about why this is happening.

Is it something you're doing are saying that is the problem? And why? Is it their problem? And why. And try to boil it down to as simple an answer as possible. Try to keep it simple, because it really can't be that complex. It might be that you're just dealing with some really nasty people that aren't worth your time.

Today it seems we live in a world that is unfortunately becoming more and more like the show "Survivor". It sounds like your forum might be like that. So, find out, quietly who your allies are, why others are ganging up on you, and decide if you want to be a part of that group. Maybe beat them at their own game. Maybe invite some others to the forum that you know will side with you. Good luck on finding out what's what, and have fun with it. Like others here have said, there's millions of forums out there.

Everyone has the right to say their piece,

Dont go on there for a few days, then come back, start a new thread or join in the conversation on an existing one and see if your being ganged up on again. If you are then you should be able to report it to the Moderator and something could be done. If theyre not ganging up on you, you just know they didnt like what you were saying. Some things still touch a raw nerve with people.

At the end of the day, theres a million and one forums out there that are decent and equal and will always listen to your point of view. Good luck.

I am skeptical that all of your threads were deleted or locked purely out of meanness. Evidently your definition of "nice and fun as possible" does not work on that forum.

My recommendation:
- Quit posting for at least 90 days. Lurk all you want, but do not post.
- Some forums have a Private Message feature allowing you to send to another member privately. That's what I use when what I want to say is for that person only.
- Forum cultures change over time. Members have been banned for threatening bodily harm to other members. Some members have revealed WAAAY too much personal information. It gets awkward and ugly.

Try a different approach: don't post for about one week's time, then create a second account and start posting. Make sure this new person/account seems as different from you as possible; make it the opposite sex, a different age, different hobbies, etc.

What this will do is allow you the chance to see if the behavior directed towards you was intentionally focused or a direct result of your actions. You'd be surprised at how often you can find out the most revealing facts about people - yourself included - when you look at them from a different perspective. You'll be glad to take a "vacation" from your normal self, while finding out if anybody "has it in for you" or if it's just your own imagination.

When someone is mean to me I don't have a thing to do with them anymore. I am quite a loner.
