Was raised Catholic but not happy with it. I would just like to find a religion that is laid back and not judgmental. I don't want my child growing up with a religion that says other people are bad because they don't believe what we do.

How about you raise your child to not grow up in a religion at all and let him decide. How about you set a good moral example of right and wrong without putting them into an environment full of lies.

Every child needs to be taught about spirits, mystery, life, death. Individuals and groups of people can be judgmental. However, that is on them. You should pick your religion based on how you connect with God and who you see God to be. God doesn't care about how you worship but that you show some sort of acknowledge of thanks for the life you have and spread love to as many people as you can before leaving this earth one day. Picking a religion can be due to a cultural connection, spiritual experience, or guided intuition. It is different for everyone. So choose a religion where you feel closest to God and not what the rest of society says. But don't be surprised if you child chooses something totally different, when they are able to pick for themselves. It's part of everyone's own spiritual journey.

YES! I agree all the way! I asked a simple question on here the other day about prophesies. Boy did I get beat up on!! I believe in God, I'm a Christian. That's "my" choice. An atheist has made their own choice. Maybe something will happen some day that will turn them around to believe. But I've noticed not too many non-believers are open minded enough. I don't dislike someone or put someone down just because they don't believe the same way as me. God said to treat others how you like to be treated. Great question!!!

I'd also have to say Buddhism and Wicca, to follw the general feeling of the folks answering. Buddhism is generally ambivalent about whether a god(s) exist or not, instead believing in taking responsibility for ones own actions through the law of Karma, while Wicca, in broad terms, sees all gods and goddesses as different aspects/interpretations of the same Goddess and God.

I am a member of the Unity Church and I chose this for the same reasons that you have indicated. Look the site up on the internet and many of their churches have streamlined the services so you could actuall watch them without going physically to the church. I am happy with my decison and for the first time I truly enjoy and look forward to attending. I have learned so much and I truly feel serenity and peace in my life now with this new spiritual understanding.
5 Basic Unity Principles
From the Children's Poster:
1. God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.

2. I am naturally good because God's Divinity is in me and in everyone.

3. I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.

4. Through affirmative prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.

5. I do and give my best by living the Truth I know. I make a difference!

From the Adult Version Poster:
1. There is only one Presence and one Power active as the universe and as my life, God the Good.

2. Our essence is of God; therefore, we are inherently good. This God essence was fully expressed in Jesus, the Christ.

3. We are co-creators with God, creating reality through thoughts held in mind.

4. Through prayer and meditation, we align our heart-mind with God. Denials and affirmations are tools we use.

5. Through thoughts, words and actions, we live the Truth we know.

All religions are suppose to be non-judgmental. It's the People within those religions you need to watch out for.

It is not the religion that is judgmental, It is the leaders and the people that are seeking power that are......... I am sorry to say that there are a lot of insincere leaders and people out there that seek money and power in God's name. But they don't seek God and his blessing. So the more things change the more they remain the same... I am not in favor of the teaching of the Catholic Church. And there are plenty of other churches out there, That have the ability to teach it people the correct way to worship God. But money and power always seems to hinder them from teaching their people correctly.. You really asked a great question And I am just so sorry that I just can't answer your question honestly at this time...................................................................................

Probably Buddhism, Ba'hai, or the Unitarian-Univeralist Church.

It sounds like you are searching for a faith that is open to the most positive elements of every faith, and in truth, there are probably common elements that bind all faiths.

However, take care not to buy too much into faith in general, because to be truly open means to admit to yourself and to others that atheism is just as strong a spiritual path as any other. And in that respect, Buddhists and Unitarians are the most accepting.

What I have learned from reading the bible, with understanding, is that as Christians, we are not to judge other people's choices and we are never to decide who will go to heaven or hell. We are just supposed to manage our own lives and discern for ourselves what in the world will help or hurt us. The bible gives guidelines on how to live a righteous life, but you have free will and can choose for yourself wether you follow them or not. You do not need a church to have a relationship with the Lord.

You are asking a very very dangerous question my friend... consider this......

Judges 17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

When we turn from the one and only way God has provided for us to have reconciliation with Himself (through Christ Jesus alone) our end is "death".
