The first time I put my cat in the kennel, she didn't talk with me for over two whole weeks. Next time it was a week and a half. After the fifth vacation, it only took a little over an hour. It got shorter each time.
After the first few times, we had a friend come to OUR house, since it was also my cat's HOME, so she felt more comfy there. That's when it started taking less than an hour.
They just like to let you know when they're ticked off. He'll get over it. Trust me. He just really missed you and wants to let you know he's upset with you.
Bring home a little gift from each trip. It won't help, but YOU'LL feel better. :-)

I have four cats, and one of them acts the same way when we go away, and she is typically the most affectionate lap cat of the bunch. She always comes around, but it can take a week or so. I had a Siamese mix who would be very upset when we were gone. When we returned she'd "talk" to us non-stop for a bit and then ignore us for days. She, too, would get over her mood in time.
If you are attempting to pick-up your cat or you are initiating the contact then either let your cat come to you or approach in an indirect manner without making direct eye contact. Cats don't like to be approached in a straight on manner as they view this as aggression.
Cats don't like changes to their routine and some of them will respond to an owner's absence by either being aloof when the owner returns or by being more affectionate. Sounds as though you have the former. If this is the first time you have left your cat then just give it time. If this is unusual behavior compared to other times you have been on vacation then you may want to contact your vet as some animals will seek isolation when they aren't feeling well.

Try to give him some time and see if he comes around.
My cat will act the same way, sulking for a while but then after a little while (Usually a day or two) she'll come running for attention.

Oh your boy is really mad at you --and be thankful he is just ignoring you--the reason that he acted normal at your friends is because he doesn't have a riff with them--YOU are the one that took him away form his home and you (the family) and left him--When my old cat would get mad at me he would do much worse than just ignore me --he would poop in secret places--like crawl down a pant leg (and then when I would put them on??) you get the picture--or in one of my shoes-or get on my lap and when I would pet him he would try to scratch then run--He made his point that he was not happy with my decision to have left him --even tho it was in excellent care--So your boy is just telling you the only way he knows how that you have totally disappointed him--he will get over it when he thinks you have learned a lesson--

ah your baby is mad at you for leaving! My cat does this and boy does it suck! He will snub me for up to 3 weeks when I have gone on business trips EVEN when my husband is home with him he still snubs me...But soon enough he comes around and things get back to normal. Just love him he will come around, truly! Its just his way of showing you he is displeasure for your leaving....sometimes I buy a special treat that I know he will enjoy and try to have some one on one time with him when I return...Good Luck

He's punishing you for leaving him. My cat wouldn't talk to me or come near me for 5 days after every holiday I took. Just try to cuddle, play and talk to him as much as possible. He's come around eventually. Aren't cats incredible?

Leave it to a cat to hold a grudge. He'll get over it. Just be your normal self, and he'll come around.

He'll be okay...he's just letting you know that he did not appreciate being left with someone else.Cats tend to hold a crutch more easily than dogs.....but he'll get over it eventually.Mean time...offer special treats he likes and don't try to force him to be close to you.

Cat's chose their owners not the other way around.
He might decide to stay with you but don't be surprised if he disappears one day.
You might be able to bribe him with cat treats and keeping his litter box clean and fresh water and food. But if your not around enough for him he won't be happy about it.
