The absolute fewest calories that you should be eating per day is 1,200. Three meals a day (without snacks), means about 400 calories per meal. Obviously, you can have a light lunch or a light dinner and shift calories to different times.

If you are talking the average lunch for an American, the Big Mac Extra Value Meal has about 1,140 calories. :-)

For me, I eat around 1,500 per day... with snacks before and after my workout, I eat 700 calories combined for lunch and breakfast - shifting between the two, with 2 servings of whole grains, one lean meat, at least one dairy, 2 servings of fruit and 2 servings of vegetables. Hope this helps - it is hard to say what is "average" as each individual's diet is different.

your breafast should be your highest calorie meal, usually about 400 to 500. this feeds your brain and body for the ENTIRE DAY, then your lunch should be slightly less, around 250-300 then dinner around 300 to 400, and if you have two snacks a day they should be no more than about 130 calories.. my grandpa always said this. "at breakfast eat like a king, at lunch eat like a prince, and at dinner eat like a pauper." eat about 2000 calories a day, and at the least 1300
