Hi!!
If you want your dog behave properly in public and causes less embarrassment, you must follow an obedience training program for your dog. The training includes teaching your dog certain good habits, praising it for obeying orders given during the training schedule and above all keeping it away from all bad habits such as excessive chewing, barking, digging etc. Believe us; obedience training would make your dog, a good citizen rather than a terrorist. Remember, that pet dogs are a part of our family and hence, should live inside with the family. Avoid isolating your dog. Isolating your dog it lonely and frustrated; thereby causing dog bite.

These are some measures; you must adopt to stop your dog from biting people around them. Please look article:Dog Bite Advice - http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Dog_Bite_Advice/

It sounds like he needs to socialize. Have you tried taking him to a dog park in your area? Some parks usually have a small dog and a big dog play area. A good starting point would be taking a training/obedience class. This would give you the opportunity to learn more about training your dog and would also give the dog some time to be around others to learn from them. Usually smaller dogs are more protective of themselves (understandably due to their size). I have a Bichon and the training really helped with his socialization skills and also brought to my attention some of the things that I was doing that might cause him to become apprehensive. I did the training at Petsmart. The cost was about $100.00 but it was well worth it!

Training helps.

Some breeds, especially small breed dogs, are more protective of themselves (understandably) and so do snap at people more easily. If this describes your breed then do what you can to train your dog not to bite but understand that it is in his nature and always will be. It is up to you to provide your dog with an environment that is stressfree, one where he does not feel the need to defend himself from strangers.

Give your dog lots of toys and take him to a dog park regularly to become socialized.

If your dog is just not social with others the best way to keep from a possible law suit is to keep him away from strangers or muzzle him--small dogs sometimes have this incredible fear thing going on and bite before being hurt--why they think the world is out to get them is beyond me--

pomeranians are notorious for being yappers and ankle biters. It is the breed. Good training is the only aspect and problem solver, even though poms seem to be this way.
Gee people say pits are bad. Poms are very annoying and non listening yapping biting dogs.
I have one.

Is he already biting people? I would suggest bringing your dog around people (don't let him have contact with them if you think he will bite) and make sure seeing and meeting new people is always a GREAT experience for him. carry some treats with you, and when someone comes near, have them toss him some treats. if he is really nervous or aggressive with people, tell them not to try to pet him or approach him, just have them walk by and toss him a treat. that way he will learn new people=treats and good stuff! you should also do this when people enter your home. if he is really aggressive, you might want to call a behaviorist.
