Roads were a little icy - does this have anything to do with the brake light being on or do my brakes need to be checked?

it sounds like your brake light switch might hav e got stuck leaving t he circuit open and therefore brake light to stay on

Since you mentioned icy, this may have made the emergency brakes stick on slightly and they need to thaw out so as to release..Mine will come on when they are just barely applied ( the brake light) but yet they are not actually applied, as in braking power..
If a circuit is open, there is no chance of current flow.

Could be a few items. First try to activate the emergency brake then release it while the car is in park. Then try turning car back on after your relase the brake. The e-brake may have stuck. If not, then you may want to have a mechanic check the ABS. You may have something wrong with the ABS causing the sensor light to go on.

there is no longer an electric powered connection between the mild clusters and the chassis. that signifies that the go back circuit is going by the different 0.5 of the bulb and back by the brake mild circuit. attempt replacing the self-tapping screws with sparkling ones.
