I think its a load of BullS***. People should be able to choose there own destiny instead of having President Bush decide for them. It really contradicts what Americas all about! Theres no way in hell im gonna fight his war.

Thank You - I don't think you have anything to worry about since you are a woman. You might want to brush up on your history of the draft as well before you start offering an opinion like that. IF (the operative word is IF, here), the draft is re-instituted I don't think you will see the same kind of deferments we saw during the Viet Nam draft. Kids were literally (at least, in my mind) buying their way out of military service by applying for educational deferment. The short version of that is that the blacks, hispanics, and others who did not enjoy the benefits of being able to attend college suffered a higher casualty and death rate that perhaps they should have. It was inequitable all the way around.

The Democrats (Rangle D-MI in-particular) have been pushing the restart of the draft since 2003...see HR 164.

Their legislation would draft men and women. If that is what the Democratic majority votes into law and they can over ride President Bush's veto...oh well. I have already served and way back when my draft number was 14.

Personally I doubt the Democrats will step up to the plate and pass their draft legislation. I think you're safe. How did you vote in the last election? That's rhetorical.

Look the draft showed us the real problems in the 60's, Nobody wants a bunch of cowards standing next to us in Iraq. I would rather stand with ten soldiers that want to be there than 100 draftees. Charlie Rangle DEMOCRAT ( high school drop out) Wants this to make a grand stand. He stated the same c rap 2 years ago and the Republicans pressed it to a vote! EVEN though Charlie wanted it HE VOTED AGAINST IT!!! It is just more Lib c rap..... Do not worry and tell your High school BUDDIES there is no DRAFT as long as the REPUBLICANS ARE IN POWER.

No one said they are bringing the draft back. Demo Rangle in his twisted thinking said we should. The President has never said he wanted a draft and said there would be none. No one with a straight mind wants a draft. The soldiers fighting along side these draftees don't want them and the draftee's don't want it. But if people keep on trying to discourage people from signing on like the liberals keep pushing it could end up this way.

I do not think that they are going to have to result to a draft for the proposed 21,000 troops to go overseas.

To answer the main question, I think that military drafting is sometimes needed, and I agree with it. When a country, especially ours, is in need for people for the service, I think that we should be able to obligate people to service for thier country. Like they say, freedom isn't free. People need to do more than just sit at home and watch thier tv to do something for thier country.

However, as conservative as I am, I believe that there has been a terrible mistake. If we are going up send that much of a force in, it should have been done in the early days of the war. It's kind of like we screwed up in the begining so someone is trying to bust *** and cover some ground so it doesn't tarnish thier name.

Again the military strategist is back. The draft has been the initiative on one democrat and its sadly been given way too much attention. The draft is not needed at this time. You are obviously not in a position of power to say yea or ne on this topic If it is deemed that this country needs the draft then it will be voted on and you again will not have a say in it.

There won't be a draft for 2 reasons:
1. They would lose ALL support for the war in this country,
2. They would lose every young conservative male voter.

That is a liberal idea.
Now they are in Congress they will vote for it they have the majority.

Because they figure if they have a draft it will make the war on Muslim terrorist turn on Bush.

That is what the talk about is nothing more than liberals wanting to hurt Bush.

i don't know of anyone who wants a draft, but if we really are involved in the struggle of a generation in iraq, then a draft may be the only way to realistically win.

it would also be a fair way to spread the sacrifice of the nation over everyone and not just those too poor to go to college...

I would rather have a draft than allow illegals to enlist like the Marines are proposing!
