The California orange growers said there were not enough laborers to pick the oranges before the freeze...I thought there were a couple of million illegals in California that just came to work! Obviously someone is not being truthful....either the orange growers are trying to make a point to force amnesty or the illegals are more content working the system instead of the fields! What do you think is the "true" story?

They are more content to work the system. http://www.heritage.org/Research/Immigration/bg1936.cfm MYTH: Americans won't do the work that illegals do.

TRUTH: Prior to 1965 when the disastrous Immigration Bill was passed, there was very little immigration. In fact, between 1925 and 1965, there was even a period of net emigration out of the United States. During this time, our grass was getting cut, our meat was being packed, our children were being watched and our houses were being cleaned. The idea that somehow we suddenly can't run a country without an unlimited supply of foreigners is absurd.

Those in favor of foreign labor are corporations who are addicted to cheap labor. They are the ones who are benefiting. But their benefit comes at the American tax payer's expense when you consider that the American tax payer is virtually subsidizing the labor costs of the greedy corporations by supplying the illegal foreign workers and their families with welfare, free education, free medical, WICs, housing assistance, etc. -- something the corporations won't do.

Americans won't allow themselves to be exploited like illegals do, but they WILL do the work that illegals do for fair compensation and benefits. If Americans did the work that illegals do at higher pay, would that benefit the consumer? You bet it would in the long run. But many Americans who do not care about America's future are consumers who favor the idea of exploiting illegal workers because it keeps commodity and service prices down in the short term.

Just because you came to work doesnt mean that you came to wok as a migrant farmer. And all people cant be sterotyped. One person is here to work and yes some of the otheres might not be. But one person and one persons action cannot represent the entire people. Should the people who come here to work be forced out cause of people who dont work? The true story is that migrant workers are very poor. i mean whens the last time there was an emergency orange picking situation? And what was susposed to happen? they would get a call on there cell phone or something like a doctor being paged? whatever.

The California Growers and the rest of the farms that hired illegals don't want changes in our immigrations law,,, all they all want is for the US government not to enforce our immigration laws or secure our border. All they want is to have a free pass from Mexico and Latin America so all of these illegals come and work for them and pay them cheap wages so they could make all the money for them self. They don't care about America or the American citizens or the illegals, all they care is about how much money they are going to make. They don't want no controls from the government, they don't want to have Americans working in their farms, because American workers are cover by the Labor laws and they have to pay what the laws say.. This is the only reason this Mongrels want illegals here in the USA. They don't care about America or even the illegals working in their fields,, if they could enslave them with out getting into trouble they will do it.

Even if they had all the pickers they needed they still could not have save the crops. Getting the trucking companies to all the fields on that short notice and having all the other equipment ready to go would have taken some time. The Ca farmers do want amnesty programs but it is not so they can get more laborers but so they can keep paying below min. wages.

Not all illegal immigrants work on farms or in the agriculture industry. Many work in the cities, in service industries, construction, landscaping, etc.

Many of the crops were lost before it was time for them to be harvested. Even if there were sufficient harvest workers, the crops would have been lost.

If I gave you a suitcase full of bacon, but you had to come to California to pick it up...... .....what time could I expect you at? And another one: POLL: It's OK to steal material from your contacts, as long as you say a prayer first asking that the contact not recognize their own material.
