What about dried fruit such as raisins, dried apricots, sultana's. Or you could have nuts and seeds, sunflowers, pumpkin. Or why don't you have water biscuits or oat biscuits, these are low in fat and good for you

I am a health food specialist, i worked for Holland and barrets as manageress, an now earn over 100,000 a year helping people become thinner.
By afternoon snack, i can't tell wether you mean lunch, or a snack.
here's a quick low-fat recipie you can try for either. If you like avacodo, it's you dream, i love it, and use it alot, as it contains, EFA, execive fatty acids, yet they have no fat, they are called this because they help your body lose as much weight as possible whilst exercising. so when u r walking, you burn twice the calories...
Chop the avacado into slices, either way, and mix in a large bowl with mint, or basil, or even fresh parsley which adds more flavour. if you like prawns, they provide the essential protien in the meal/snack. add the prawns, if you wish, or tuna, as it contains no saturated fat, THE common cause for obeisity, and add normal salad ingredients to your taste, you may add vinegar, pepper, or both to flavour, or use olive oil.
all the best!

What causes the necessity for an afternoon snack in the first place - if you were to eat properly instead of falling for all this nonsense you wouldn't NEED an afternoon snack to fill up the space left by improperly eating at other times of the day.

I use some really tasty and good for you nutrition bars. No the stuff thats like condensed cardboard either. There are only 160 calories and 12g of protein!! Flavours are nice too, especially if you like chocolate--the choc fudge are great. You cant et 'em in the supermarkets, these things are the bees knees. go to www.myhealthabcmall.com and they are under weight management, there other healthy snack stuff in there too. You just create yourself a username and password and away you go. the stuff turns up at your door about 3 days later. I have been usong these for a couple of years.

A thing you need to remember, you need a bit of fat in your diet, so dont get rid of the fat completley out of your diet. You just dont want the saturated fat.
If something has 9.7grams of fat, but only 1.2grams of the fat is saturated, that going to do you no harm at all!
I eat properly everyday, apart from a Sunday, thats the day were I eat whatever I want (If you eat 6 days good, 1 day bad, the 1 day wont affect you at all!)
Cereal bars are good for snacks, as are protien bars you can get from gyms, theyre full of goodness, mainly protien.
Tuna/Pasta, great.
Brown rice is great (not white rice)
All fruit and Veg is good, but dont overdo it, as some fruits contain high amounts of sugars.
A sandwich (brown bread) Chicken, ham, tuna (only home made tuna one tho really, as the ones you buy in shops are smothered in mayo, thats what I usually find anyway)
Stay away from pork, its a fatty, salty meat.
Jacket potatoe.
Protien shakes are really good for you, but they taste horrid at first, you dont have to go to the gym to drink meal replacement drinks, theyre really healthy, and I know people that have them and dont go the gym (the only thing is they dont fill you up much)
Crackers, theyre fine.
Stay away from things high in sugar too, fizzy drinks like coke are terrible, have diet, cut your sugars out of your tea, change to brown bread, dont put loads of butter on sarnys, drink semi skimmed or skimmed milk etc a combination of all these things will make a difference.
Best thing you can eat in the morning is oats, theyre spot on!
Oily fish is great for you.
Hope this helps.

Hi Faith,
I read your answer to the guy that's going to a swinger's club "maybe" on the weekend... Noticed that you "are a bit scared of them"
What part of the country do yoi live in? We have gone to some really nice ones - if you know where to go to get to the good ones, it's a fantastic experience.
Why don't you Email me - I can point you in the right direction - give you some tips. We don't frequent the clubs - prefer one-on-one (or rather, two-on-two-or-three...), but on occasion, it's nice to go to one of the better ones.

triscuit crackers with hummus or some other kind of low-fat dip (or none at all)
they are healthy and tasty!!
you could have sliced carrot sticks with hummus or some other low-fat dip
or you could munch on steamed veggies (or raw ones) with some hot sauce- it's good trust me, the sauce makes them tast incredible
oh wait I know...
carrots and mustard! Very healthy and good
mustard has like 0 calories in a tablespoon so you can eat as much of it as you want
and the veggies are good for you

Try the little sunkist tuna kits. They are only about 200 calories and a good snakc. low or nonfat yogurt is also good, with fruit mixed in.

If you like dairy, nonfat yogurt or cottage cheese. Cheese made w/skim milk. Nuts, as other person suggested can work too. Or veggies. Maybe celery w/peanut butter on it, so you get some protein too.
