They were at one time, but Jesus showed that they had lost their divine favor when he said these words regarding Jerusalem--"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate"
Matthew 23:37-38
Not only was Jerusalem the killer of prophets, her people called for the execution of God's Son.
After Jerusalem's temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 C.E, it was never rebuilt, a sure sign of God's rejection of the people he once called his own.

I'm not a Christian but I'll answer anyway. If God was the type to choose certain groups of people over others, then he wouldn't be a very fair, just and even-handed God. He'd be a bastard. And quite frankly if thats the case He can have the Jews and **** off while He's at it. I don't see why, if you were to pick people, and an omnipotent spiritual being can surely do that, why wouldn't You pick the best out of each different ethnic group and make them "The Chosen". I've never noticed Jewish folk being especially virtuous and great compared to other people...

You have it backwards. The Jews chose God, not the other way around. Check the Old Testement.

God chose the Jewish race to bring forth a savior. That means that they were part of his plan from before Christ. It does not mean that he loves others any less.

Silly Jibber Jabber. The Mormons are the chosen people. They are also the only true Christians.

Of course. And that's why it was good news that the gospel was also taken to the "gentiles". (Much of the Old and New Testaments address this...you may want to take a look at it.)

He chose them to deliver his message, but he didn't absolve them to do what ever they wanted. Besides, all religions are based in fallacy.
