You can believe (or not believe) in whatever you want. The problem arises when you (speaking generically) try to force your views on someone else.

I don't get it, either. Other sections allow everyone in. "Auto Racing" allows people who hate the sport and people who watch it, know nothing about the sport but want to learn for others, have questions after reading something in the newspaper or seeing a cute driver, etc. "Music" allows fans of all kinds of music. What is so wrong with it here, where (I think) openness to all kinds is even more important? I know I've learned about Islam and Catholicism here, just by reading. This is a terrific place to ask questions that you wouldn't dare ask the person in the next cubicle over about. Even looking from the standpoint of a person who wants to convert atheists--don't you want to learn something so you can deal with the atheists in your real life? Isn't it a good thing for you that they came here?

In the same vein, why do Atheists insist on telling God believers that they belong in the Myths and Fantasy category? The intolerance cuts both ways. Besides, modern Atheism is actually based in and presupposes Christianity.

Questions by Athiests about God or religion arent bad things at all. I think the problem is lack of respect on every side. If you ask a respectful question, I promise to answer in a respectful way... sometimes even if the question is disrespectful (calling christians retarded or cussing and flaming) I may still answer it respectfully, otherwise I wont answer it at all. Im not one of the professed Christians who sling hate around either, they are just as bad as Atheists who are only here to sling mud.

I don't mind you try to force it in me....
I like a good comedy show at the end of the day....
Think about it it is a fifty percent chance that a Supreme Being of ultimate or great power exist. For believers then that 50% is further divided between the right religion or not.
But for atheists, that 50% just means a whole lot of Pineapples to take in the a**s after you die and discover the truth.
So you still wanna bet.......
It is the basis of binary code 0 and 1, have and don't have......

Because some people are totally dimwitted and don't want to know where anyone else stands.
By the way, I am Christian and I don't want all of you off here.
And Methuselah was just getting started at 75.

It is NOT criticism of atheists, it is concern for their souls. Followers of Jesus the Christ are called to tell the whole world about the Promise of God's love and Salvation. Jesus said that some seed will fall on hard ground and not grow. We are only to sew the seeds, if the atheists continue to ignore the Word and place their souls in jeopardy, that IS UP to them. I don't hate atheists, I pity them. YBIC

I am a Christian, and seeing people take down my beliefs only encourages me the more. (Much to the dismay of some, I'm sure...) Everyone should voice their opinion, but not with crude language and stuff.

If atheists don't believe in God, it is just hard to understand why some of the atheists choose to hang out in the religious section. Is it because you do have doubts about your choice to not believe in God? Or is it just to torment those who do? If that is the case, it is a violation of Y!Answers. That is why there is critism. There is no reason for you in this section unless you are really having 2nd thoughts.
