My sister has a Yorkie pup as well, and when she was 7 wks old the exact thing happened to her. It is a common parasite among puppies called Coccidia. It was treated with medication called Albon for 5 days. Your puppy needs to be seen by a vet asap.

That's not normal, and you need to take him to the vet as soon as possible, because blood is never a good sign, whether he's playful or not. Being so young, you can't and shouldn't take any chances, for the benefit of your dog. There is obviously something going on, that needs to be checked and treated, and the vet. is the only one who can help him. I hope your little guy feels better soon and that it's nothing serious.

Take him to your vet.

There are a lot of viruses and/or bacteria that can be extremely harmful to puppies that you rarely see in adult dogs. Also, with puppies' tendencies to get into and eat things they shouldn't, you should take him incase he's eaten a non-food item that's messing up his digestive system. A friend of mine's labrador puppy ate her night shirt one day while she was at work and had to have it surgically removed. So you never can tell.

Just because he's playful and eating doesn't mean there's not something wrong.

You really need to take him to the vet ASAP. This could be signs for a number of problems from intestinal parasites to Parvo or he just ate something that's irritating his stomach and intestines. Whatever it is he needs to see the vet for treatment even if he is eating and acting normal. Serious problems can occur suddenly, so it's better to catch it early. Make sure you take a fresh fecal sample with you so they can look at it for parasites and test for Parvo. I hope the little guy feels better and good luck!

The dog should be seen by a vet. Be sure to take a sample of the mecus as well as the stool so the vet can examine that too. Good Luck.

He definitely needs to see a vet ASAP. Blood is never a good sign, no matter how playful he is.

Have you taken him to the vet yet? If not, you should ASAP. That is a serious sign of something amiss.
