my personal remedy: drink plenty of fluids, especially water and warm teas (preferably lemon or peppermint teas)..you can definitely drink orange juice, but too much could cause ingestion to occur...go on a strict diet, sticking to soup and toast for your meals...that way instead of feeding your COLD, you will be combating the COLD..also, before going to bed, make sure to take a warm/hot shower, it will really help the way you feel before getting comfortable for bed..ive also noticed that once you are out of the shower, your nose might then begin to trickle alittle bit..dont worry, its just the COLD escaping, so just blow your nose until the mucus is no more....last but not least, sleep in heavy layers, that way while you are sleeping, your body temperature is rising, causing you to sweat the COLD out! i hope i have helped you out!!!

A cold pretty much has to run its course. But there are things you can do to be less miserable.

1)Drink water.
2)Try drinking hot boullion or hot lemon and honey. The liquids will sooth your throat, and help keep you hydrated.
3)Use zinc lozenges to help control the cough. And again, that will help sooth your throat.
4)Take extra vitamin C. That will help boost your immune system so you'll heal better, and not get sick so quickly the next time around.
5) Use steam, either from the hot drinks or from a hot shower. That will help with your congestion, and to a lesser extent with a runny nose.

Feel better, and good luck!

There's no getting rid of a cold fast, you've got to rest for like a week.

the best trick ive discovered is to take vitamin c pills, drink lots of water, take dayquil twice a day and nyquil before bed. take the vitamin c with the nyquil and again in the morning. also rest is very important, but if you cant get out of your daily obligations, the water and vitamin c are most important, also, advil is the best for aches, and getting rid of your aches will give you more energy to get better! hope it works for you! feel better soon...

unfortunately a cold is a virus - that means it has to run its course and clear itself. you can take over the counter cold remedies to deal with the symptoms and make it a little easier though. try alcohol-free robitussin, or tylenol pm at night. over the counter nasal sprays work wonders too - but be aware that using them too often could cause 'rebound congestion' which is often worse than the cold itself... good luck to you

Lots of people recommend dosing up on the vitamin c but taking excessive amounts do nothing to keep you healthy, you just pee it out, in fact taking too much can be harmful. One glass of pineapple juice is twice your daily RDI. I recommend good food, tablets to combat any annoying symptoms and lots of bed rest.
